Weddings

Celebrate the start of your life together with the thrilling music of the bagpipes.

The unique sounds of the pipes lend a sense of occasion and nobility. The pipes can also be played at the reception, usually to welcome guests or to present the newlyweds. Travel is not a problem. I have piped for weddings in California, Arizona, Florida and Denmark. I’d be pleased to discuss thoughts and plans for your special occasion.

Ceremony music can include any or all of the following:

  • Gathering Music
  • Processional
  • A selection as part of the service
  • Recessional
  • Postlude/Receiving Line

Sample Music:

  • Highland Cathedral
  • Mari’s Wedding
  • Morag of Dunvegan

Funerals

Bagpipes are part of many services, not just Scottish and Irish.

The music I play can range from dirges to slow airs to the tunes of glory. This can provide comfort, offer connection, enhance memories, and celebrate life. Whether you want piping as part of the religious service… along the walk to the cemetery… or at graveside, it can be an integral part of saying goodbye.

I have also performed at many military funerals, working alongside the honor guard.

Sample Music:

  • Amazing Grace
  • Flowers of the Forest
  • The Parting Glass

Special Events

A bagpiper enhances all kinds of occasions, inaugurating the ceremonies with music that calls people’s attention… celebrates momentous steps… and brings people together.

It’s not just Carnegie Hall, Plaza Hotel, and Met events that I’ve highlighted, there are personal landmarks that can be made even more memorable with bagpipes —  birthdays, anniversaries, christenings and other milestones.

Both golf and curling are Scottish games and I’ve celebrated the players, and the ultimate winners during tournaments at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster NJ, Wee Burn in Darien, the Country Club of New Canaan, Bedford Golf and Tennis… and at curling bonspiels in Ardsley and Bridgeport.  I’ve piped grand openings, boat parades and whisky tastings.

I lead in graduates every spring for several school commencements in New York and Connecticut.

I’ve led walks at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in several venues and raised money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. And my bagpiping helps urge competitors on to the finish lines at Run the Farm at Muscoot in Katonah and The Leatherman’s Loop in Pound Ridge NY.

I’ve also enjoyed presenting the history as well as the music of bagpipes to students in New Milford CT and at Lighthouse Guild Music School in New York City.

Whatever the occasion, I will work with you to add music at just the right point in your ceremony or festivities.

Band Performances

Mount Kisco Scottish Pipes & Drums

I have been Pipe Major of Mount Kisco Scottish Pipes & Drums since 1990. Since then we have been named the official band of the New York State St. Andrew’s Society and designated a “Division in North America” of the Bermuda Regiment. The band has played in every New York City Tartan Day Parade and at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine for First Night Celebrations. Mount Kisco Scottish also performs for a number of church kirkings, fire department parades, local concerts and many other occasions.

Please contact me or visit the band website https://www.mountkiscoscottish.com/ for more information if you need a small ensemble of pipers and drummers… or the full band.
